POW! WOW!
GRAFFITI IN KAKA’AKO
For the past several years, the POW! WOW! HAWAI’I artist group has painted graffiti on buildings and warehouses in Kakaako, often painting over works from the previous year. Each year some beautiful graffiti disappear, but then new emerge on top.
POW! WOW! HAWAI’I celebrates its 10th annual festival in Hawaii, and will surpass 50 total festivals worldwide this year.
Since its inception in 2010 in Hawaii, POW! WOW! has grown into a global network of artists and organizes gallery shows, lecture series, schools for artand music, mural projects, a large creative space named Lana Lane Studios, concerts, and live art installations across the globe.
The Hawaii event which is the longest-standing annual POW! WOW! takes place during Valentine’s Day week in February in the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu, and brings over a hundred international and local artists together to create murals and other forms of art.
