This is my primary camera.
It‘s an all-black Leica M10. I love it!
The M10 works great for me. Easy to carry around and almost perfect for street photography. It’s not intrusive, and it doesn’t stand out “Oh My Gosh, a photographer is coming!”.
I said “almost perfect” because sometimes photographing the street I feel the need of a faster camera, and I get frustrated. Every times I have to remind myself that shooting with a Leica makes me slow down and think about each frame, because it’s going to take time to capture a good image. Anyway, I think it’s very difficult to slow down when we are looking for the “decisive moment” of Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Most of the time, I take the indecisive moments! Ahahaha!
I like the simplicity of this camera and I love to be in total control of the functions. If I take a bad picture, I can’t blame the camera! It has great ISO capabilities, but I keep the settings on ISO 200 by default for the best dynamic range value.
This camera is also a great conversation starter. I had many interesting conversations with people who were just pointing out: “Nice camera!”.
I do not use the original Leica strap, but I use a Peak Design Slide strap because it’s very comfortable on my neck, doesn’t mark the collar of my shirt, is light, easy to remove or adjust. It is very versatile and it could be worn as a sling, neck or shoulder strap. The connectors are small, fast to clip in or out and they are secure.
