I start this post saying very loud: I love my gear!
At the same time I also want to say there are no right advice nor there is anything to rule out about photography gear.
The only thing that works for you is what you like, feel comfortable and most important thing, afford.
Please do not take my thoughts as advise for your purchases, I just like to deliver my taste and personal preferences.
During the last year of high school, my best friend was taking his first steps into his professional photographer career. I was helping him in the darkroom and my passion started there.
The Pentax ME Super was my first. It was a great camera, actually I think it still is a great camera, 100% manual. Playing with the ME, I learned the basics of photography.
In my bag, I had Pentax, Olympus, Nikon, Canon, and I sold or traded them all.
But after 39 years, I still have my ME Super sitting on a shelf in my office, and as a beautiful old lady it is showing its elegant black and chrome classic look.
It’s a real all-metal camera, 35mm SLR, very solid, compact, lightweight, that just shoots.
The ME Super works. Period. If the two common A76 button cells run out, no problem, you will not miss any shots if you are comfortable turning the dial on Manual Mode.

It has a huge 0.95x finder, much bigger than today’s Nikon, Canon, Sony and many others “big” camera’s brands.
The Pentax ME Super is a good little camera, made better than many cameras in today’s market. It is still available in good shape on the pre-owned market around $30/40 that usually includes a lens. The camera’s specifications are very easy to find on the web.
This is my lovely Pentax ME Super.
