Honolulu Street Art
I like Graffiti and Street Art.
I collect its images, books, and articles. I make photos, sketches.
It is my opinion that graffiti expression is a form of modern art.
It‘s extremely interesting to study its movement, projects, and the communities behind this form of art displayed outside traditional art venues.
I like it because it’s visible and available to everyone.
It doesn’t have any restrictions (well, sometimes there are some laws and city regulations …!). It’s a way to communicate loudly and trigger a critique, or deliver a direct opinion, thought, message, thus turning it into a Guerrilla Art.
Sometimes I see spaces in the city that look like amazing open-air art galleries. On a quiet Sunday afternoon, I decided to take a walk in the Kaka’ako area of Honolulu with my camera.
This area became very popular for its graffiti and now it is visited by tourists taking pictures or selfies in front of colorful walls or beside interesting garbage dumpsters, like this:
